Done Dexa X-ray. What Do Scores Indicate?

I had a Dexa xray and I came out with Z-score at a 1.6 and a Lumbar Spine T-Score of -0.3. What do these scores indicate. I am 77 years old and I am very active. I substitute teach and tutor 7 children. I belong to a Gym. When I sub, I am always on my feet and I am on the 2nd floor usually in the building,so I am up and down for recesses, lunch, my lunch and then the end of the school day and off to tutor.

Hello,

DEXA scan is used to determine osteopenia (below-normal bone density) and osteoporosis (severe decrease in bone density). T-score compares YOUR bone density to bone density of a 30-years old healthy person. Z-score compares YOUR bone density with the bone density of an average person of your age.

The major palyer in all this game is the T-score. Your T-score is within normal limits. So you do not have any reason to worry.

Hope this was clear.

Kind Refards,
