Done Lumbar Fusion. Swelling In Legs, Numbness And Pain In Buttocks. Help

Had double lumber fusion 5 months ago. Pain is getting worse not better. For 5 months now swelling in legs, numbness in both, pain buttocks, legs, and now for 4 weeks the lower backand where the hardware was put in. My Dr is Lackadaisical and seems barely to care. I cannot believe this is normal. I am not a complainer or hypochondriac. Soemthing or things have/has gone badly wrong. I just want the listy of those things. This is not normal.

Hi,
The symptoms you describe are not normal for this stage after the operation. The numbness and pain would be an indication to seek further assessment and investigation.
You may need a MRI scan of your lumbar spine to rule out any problems with the surgery. It would be difficult to make any further comments based only on the symptoms. If you are not satisfied with your original surgeon then I would suggest you consider seeking a second opinion.
