Done Tonsillectomy. Taking Tylenol. Have Nausea After Taking Roxicet. Good Idea?

So, I just had a tonsillectomy on Tuesday (I m 18) and I m on day 5 (well, technically day 6 as of seven minutes ago) of my recovery. At first, the pain and just overall uncomfort was unbearable. So much to where I had to go to the hospital just to get an IV to stay hydrated and afterwards I felt amazing. Even now I feel so good that I ve managed to switch over to extra strength Tylenol rather than the Roxicet I was on because it was making me just so nauseas. Anyway, I have two questions. One, was switching to the Tylenol a good idea? I definitely wouldn t say I feel a world s amount of relief, but I can do without the disgusting taste of liquid medication . And more importantly, when will this awful taste in the back of my throat start to disappear? Lately, I ve been getting a horribly upset stomach just over how awful it tastes and I d really love to know when that will clear up and if there s anything I can do about it for now.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

* Roxicet contains two pain-killer medicines : oxycodone (which causes nausea and vomiting) and Tramadol (Tylenol).

* So, switching over to Tylenol and thereby, eliminating oxycodone- was a good idea, so long as your pain is tolerable Tylenol alone is a milder pain-killer).

* Most of the medicines have an awful taste. But the disagreeable taste will disappear as soon as all medicines are stopped. Your doctor knows when to stop all medication.
