Hi,
Welcome to HCM
The test is done when a pregnant woman is suspected of having any of the TORCH infections.
These infections can be serious if they occur during pregnancy because they can cross the placenta from the mother to the developing fetus and can cause congenital defects in the newborn.
A high IgG value indicate infection in past and IgM a recent infection.
Growth of fetus can be monitered by sonography which your Gynaecologist would moniter.
New born if suspected of any infection can be tested IgG pass through placenta to newborn but IgM level are important in newborn.
Take care
Good Luck to you.
