Done With MRI, Got Report. Can Any Online Doctor Help Me To Read It?
Hi. I got my father s MRI done yesterday. He is 58 yrs old and has diabetes and hypertension since 8 and 12 years respectively both uncontrolled. He had once a complaint of severe vertigo for which he was admitted to ICU . That is under control now but now he has brief events (for 2/3 minutes once a day) of dizzines and vertigo which he is unable to explain very well. His EEG is abnormal as well. His MRI report states that there are tiny abnormal intensity foci seen on FLAIR images in the left frontal and subcortical region suggestive of ischemic foci and evidence of maxillary sinusitis , showing mucosal thickening . What does that mean?
In simple language, the MRI reports says that there are small areas in the front portion of the brain on left side. These might be the result of mini strokes in the past and this has resulted in small areas of decreased blood supply (ischemia) and can be termed microangiopathy. It is seen more in diabetics. That can explain his dizziness and vertigo events.
The maxillary sinusitis is something not serious. It shows slight fluid collection in the sinus cavity next to the nose.
Hope this helps
