Double Umbilical Hernia - Complications After Surgery
On March 17, 2011 I had surgery for a Umbilical Hernia and in surgery the Doctor found that I Had A double Umbilical Hernia. The nurse told be to remove the dressing the next day and take a shower. I noticed that the left side was protruding out and did not look like the other side. Within 10 days the left side hurting and still protruding and right side was not hurting and seem to be healing . 03/27/2011 - I called the doctors office left a message explaining what was going on. 03/28/02011 - The next day they called me back and asked that I come in right away, which I did and seen a different surgeon . She cut a slit applied pressure and man a whole alot of fluid came out. She then installed a wick and told me to remove it the next day in the shower. The next day I woke up in so much pain. It felt like someone was continuing to stab me over and over. After about 4 hours, I went into the shower and pulled the wick out and alot of fluid came out and when I pressed on my stomach alot of blood then came out. 03/30/2011 - Went back to see the surgeon (That operated on me) and he decided to cut me open above were he repaired my double hernia. He said that I had a void (Because I was over weight) that he was going to have to let me heal from the inside out. From 03/30/2011 to 04/04/2011 - I had to go to the hospital everyday including weekends where the surgeon changed out the gauze inside me. It started turning green (Getting Infected) and ask me to get someone at night to do the same. I hired a CNA to change out my wound and now its been 2 weeks. The opening is starting to heal but the inside is not. The surgeon is now recommending that I have a second surgery to open up the slit so I don t close on the outside and have the void inside get a full body infection. I would like to know why I m truling not healing and what might be wrong with me & Etc. Did the doctor forget to do something or did he do something wrong? Its now 0418/2011 - My work insurance has not approved me for a second surgery and I m getting very worried. Lenbella
