Dry Cough And Shortness Of Breath. Is It Because Of Cefalexin ?
i had a sorethroat last june that progressed into a cold, but it disappeared, then on july i started coughing again (accompanied with runny nose) i saw a doctor and she only inspected my throat and asked me basic questions. she prescribed cefalexin and expectorant, coughing stopped for 2 weeks. 3 days ago I started having dry cough , i took some leftover cefalexin and expectorant but it made my condition worse on the second day.I had a fever i can feel my left lung aching. I can also hear a wheezing sound and had difficulty sleeping, and feels shortness of breath . I also took an antitussive tablet to stop the coughing but it didnt help. please advice. thanks!

From your question seems you are suffering from Bronchitis With ?Pnemonitis.Better You submit your self for X-Ray chest and blood count report[CBC].
Donot do any self medcation

Read your prob,you have suffering from wheezing of lungs n shortness of breath, this is nothing but hyperreactive air way diease or asthema. cough suppresant, antitussive n antibiotic has no role in such type of condition. you should take tab or syp astelin or nebuliz with astelin. it helps in subsiding your symptomes.

Your symptoms point to a infection in lungs or pneumonia which if not treated immediately may develop complications like pleural effusion or empyma which occur due to collection of water and pus in lungs respectively.
So kindly don't wait and self medicate. It's best to consult a physician or pulmonologist
for early diagnosis by X-ray and blood test and then appropriate antibiotic treatment.
Cephalexin is an antibiotic but ther might be resistance to it if the symptoms r not relieved.
