Dry Throat, Thick Phelgm With Little Blood. History Of On Being Antibiotics For Swollen Uvula And Sore Throat. Suggest
I have had a swollen uvula and horrible sore throat twice in the kast three weeks. Both times i have been on steroids and antibiotics. Last night i finished my second course if antibiotics. Early this mirning i coughed up a circke of very thick clear phelgm which had a circle of blood in the middle. Throat feels dry now. What should I do?

you had sore throat and taken a course of antibiotics..
now you had throat secretions with a streak of blood..
this is normal, because of congestion increased blood supple to the throat and may be one blood vessel broken when you were trying to bring out the secretions..
do salt water gargling, start with multivitamins and vitamin C.
if bleeding continues/increases see your surgeon..
all the very best..

Sore throat with phlegm, blood are an indication of involvement of lungs also ( as 3 weeks duration).
May be that proper antibiotics are not using .
May be due to forceful expulsion of expectoration hence blood .
Tuberculosis,
cancer lungs,
allergic bronchitis,
allergy with super added infection.
Throat swab and its culture will decide the line of treatment in first phase.
If not working then consult a physician and get his opinion.
X ray and blood examination is very important.

Thank you for consulting HCM.As you have already took the antibiotic treatment but you still have the symptoms means the reason may be you are dehydrated, you need to drink lots and lots of water and even orange juice to prevent uvulitis.With viral pharyngitis you have the same symptoms but as your are treated i am mentioning the cause as dehydration.Drinking alcohol may aggravate dehydration.You need to maintain your immune system good you can take vitamin -c also for that.Its better to consult ENT surgeon rather than a physician.Thank you.
