EKG Test Showed Wolf-Parkinson-White Syndrome. Had Problem Of Heart Murmur As A Child. Will WPW Syndrome Prevent From Performing Exercise And Its Treatment?
I recently had an EKG done as part of a physical examination. The EKG revealed that I have the Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome . At the same time, I have a history of a heart murmur as a child, but my cardiologist cleared it years later. I did sports throughout high school without any problems. This physical exam is part of the hiring process for a physically rigorous job. Would the WPW syndrome prevent me from performing exercises or these kinds of activities? Is there a treatment for this?
The answer depends on how your EKG looks like. If it is only shortening of PR interval to say normal 120 msec to 110 msec without delta wave, there is no bar in passing medical examination. If there is something more (there is facility of uploading your investigation in healthcare magic you can use) it would depend upon individual doctor but you can challenge with cardiologist's opinion. Personally, I do not think WPW is a cardiac disability for hiring a job barring a few a like Pilot or public transport driver, swimming instructor. Mainly it depends more on employee because doctor only gives a recommendation.
With Best Wishes.
