Experiencing Pain Under Rib Cage Due To An Accident , What Are The Treatments ?
Hi I fell forwards onto hard concrete floor where I work. It knocked the wind out of me but when I could finally breath in there was bad pain under left rib cage. I was taken to th ER by ambulance got x rays they said nothing broken or cracked.. This happened 4 days ago I can't lay on my back or left side it still hurts
Hi ! Good afternoon and a Happy New Year 2014. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
From your history and x ray reports, it seems that you have got muscle sprain (tear of the muscle fibres) resulting in inflammation of the muscles involved. This may take some time to go with the help of some anti inflammatory drugs, and also some kind of physiotherapy like a short wave diathermy or an ultrasonic massage. If I were your doctor, I would also go for an ultrasound of the abdomen to rule out any intra abdominal injury though less likely in your case with a history of trauma 4 days ago.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in planning your treatment. Thanks for using the health care magic forum for your query on health. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
