Eye Injury, Swollen, Applied Ice. Is Something Wrong?
Please someone help us. My girlfriend was puched in the eye and has not yet seen a specalist. We have an appointementresult?. The bad thing is her black eye is gone but she can barely raise her eyelid . It has been seven days since the ijury occured. The eye was severely swollenthe first three days. We kept alot of ice on it. The swelling has gne but we are really scared about the ptosis effect. Is there something wrong? In the ER They said she ha a light fracture but she is about to go crazy about this eyeld situation. Please help. Whats the worst case result? YYYY@YYYY

This is a sad situation. One has to wait in this case for some time. If inspite of swelling gone the patient is unable to lift the lid, this points injury to either muscle, levator muscle or to its nerve supply. In any case this thing needs observation for minimum 3 to 6 months to see the amount of recovery . meanwhile an oculoplastic consultation will be of benefit for her. Once things settle down a definitive solution to her lid position will be possible. At present it's too early, however see an ophthalmic plastic surgeon for proper assessment of the situation.
