Faint Positive Pregnancy Test. Started Bleeding. Blood Test Shows Less Hcg. Test Showed False Positive Report

Last friday & saturday I took a pregnancy test. Cheap one on the friday with faint postive. and the clear blue digital on saturday reading Pregnant 1-2 weeks. We were over the moon as we have suffered a few miscarriages. Monday morning I started to bleed so went to docs. Where the doctor said it was probably a false positive? they did bloods and i received the result today and it was 12.4 hcg. So not pregnant. The doctor insisted that i couldnt have been pregnant in the first place as there was not enough hcg in my blood. but also had no explanation as to the positve pregnancy tests. except for false positives. i suggested that would it make a difference to know that i ovulate later than the average person to which she replied no.

I'm not sure if this is correct.

my last period started on 19th sept. and I take my waking temp each morning. I know i ovulated on day 22. which means that i would have only been 4 weeks when i tested and my hcg's could still have been low at this point but high enough to be detected on tests clearly.. now i think that its likely that i was pregnant but the egg did not implant correctly and that when i tested there was enough hormone in my blood but by the monday it had dropped to 12.4 hcg.

im confused. one test i would under stand being wrong but 2? to me this seems to be more like a chemical pregnancy?

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

Thanks for your query.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

As you suspected it may be due to Chemical pregnancy.

This is due to a Very early Miscarriage.

The term chemical pregnancy means that the miscarriage happened at a point that a missed period and biochemical tests, such as an hCG blood test or a home pregnancy test (checking hCG in urine), were the only evidence that you were pregnant. The miscarriage happened before an ultrasound could have shown a gestational sac.

This is most commonly due to Chromosomal abnormalities in the developing fetus(baby).

Please try to get conceive again and check for pregnancy in future.
If it fails, the go for further investigations like Hysteroscopy to rule out any abnormalities in your uterus.
You may also need chromosomal study, if failure continues.

Hope this helps.
Please reply for further queries.
Wishing you good health
