Feeling Coughing And Throwing After Sleep. Guidance

I have been unable to sleep for the past week because everytime I fall asleep I start coughing and throwing up large amounts of brown mucous. I am not and never have smoked. I have the lap band which is filled to about five. I even tried eating my dinner at four in hopes that I would not do this. It doesn't feel like a lap band issue to me because I do not overeat and am careful with what I eat. My doctor just took a one year sabbatical so I cannot ask him. But I am becoming very worried and very exhausted. I did have a bout if a flu bug before this happened

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Cough with copious mucus may be due to ,
lung abscess,
bronchiectasis,
bronchitis.

Nothing to do with lap band.
Consult a physician and physical examination will find out the cause.
Good luck.
X ray chest is necessary in this case.
Good luck.
