Feeling Sleepy After Being Stung By Honeybees. Reason?

Is there a reason why I would feel sleepy after being stung by a couple of honey bees? This has happened on 2 occasions. Once I was stung around 15 to 20 times. The bee sting don t really hurt me they never have a light itching in the local area at most and no other symptoms other than I have associated being able to get some of the best sleep and really rest good. I would wake up feeling really good and refreshed. Is this my imagination or does the bee stings have something to do with it?

Hi,
thank you for query,
The sting's injection of apitoxin into the victim is accompanied by the release of alarm pheromones, a process which is accelerated if the bee is fatally injured. Release of alarm pheromones near a hive or swarm may attract other bees to the location, where they will likewise exhibit defensive behaviors until there is no longer a threat, typically because the victim has either fled or been killed.
The main component of bee venom responsible for pain in vertebrates is the toxin melittin; histamine and other biogenic amines may also contribute to pain and itching and sleepiness.

Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,

Bee sting is a way of protecting their selves and their colony and the substance/toxin that is injected into the human tissue is aimed both to irritate and cause pain. Normally a single sting should not make you feel sleepy, but several stings can be very dangerous and since you receive serious doses of the toxin, it can cause you to feel sleepy and if more doses, it can cause death. Bee sting allergy is possible and fatal too. I recommend you do not make it a hobby for bees to sting you and avoid getting more of the toxins. You might develop immunity against the toxins if continual low doses hence the reason why you no longer feeling a lot pains after the sting.

Well hope this helps
