Fell On Left Lower Thin. Swelling Around Ankle, A Cut Above It. Applying Antibiotic. Is The Swelling Normal?

i fell on my left lower shin 6 days ago going up a high step, and I am having some swelling around my ankle which does not hurt at all. I have a cut about 2 inches above the swelling. The cut hurts a bit ..It feel like it just happened a few minutes ago..but its been 6 days. I keep applying an antibiotic on the cut several times a day. Is the swelling normal?

You fell down and injured your lower shin of left leg 6 days ago following which you have painless swelling around the ankle and a cut injury 2 inches above the swelling. you are applying ointment for the cut injury. I assume that you are able to walk freely. But a swelling following a fall
without pain is rare. Consult your dr. Take X-ray ankle and treat accordingly. Tendon injury can also produce swelling but will be painful. Avoiding walking and keeping foot elevated in the lying posture will help you if no other problem is there. If the cut is deep it should have been sutured within 24 hrs. Now Proper dressing, antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs are needed for the cut injury to heal.
