Fever And Cough. Malaria Or Dengue?
hi...my daughter who is 02 yrs old have been suffering from fever and chronic cough since last 05 days. Initially the fever touched 104 deg F and we administered her with Calpol and on second day with IBUgesic, and also azitral and t-mimic. the fever (between 100-101) and cough still persists and we showed her to pediatrician who recommended for blood test for possible malaria or dengue....however, the blood test ruled out malaria but initiated larigo and pecef-50 along with tixilix..dengue result is awaited.......the cough has become more chronic...please suggest what to do?

Usually,viral infections need no treatment except Anti-pyretics to control fever and they subside with in 1 week,that is why always lab.investigations are ordered after 1 week.Dengue,if it is simple fever,no specific treatment except Anti-pyretics,but if it is DHF or DSS with severe manifestations,then energetic and emrgency treatment given with IVFluids,Platelets etc.
