After the of 50 enlargement of prostate gland is common for some people. It is one of the complication aging process due to so many reasons. The gland is situated at junction of bladder and urethra surrounding that junction . If it enlarges it may block the passage of urine and it also enlarges inside the bladder. Prostate enlargement can produce urgency/delayed urination. Some amount of residual urine is common when it enlarges inside the bladder.
Two types of enlargements are there. one is called benign. Another one is malignant. By USG we can arrive at a diagnosis whether it is benign or malignant. Malignancy means immediate surgery. Benign means we can postpone the surgery by giving certain medicine which gives some amount of relief. But once the urethra get blocked urgent temporary bypass surgery is needed for the passage of urine called SPC. So it is better to remove it before it produces complications. The surgery for that is simple and nowadays it is done thr'o cystoscopy avoiding open surgery. consult urologist for expert advise. Fever may be due to urinary tract infection and frequency is urination is due to the intra bladder extension of prostate enlargement.
