Fracture On The Toe Due To A Fall. On Air Cast. How Long Should I Continue To Wear This?

Hi I'm 46 years old female, I fell 16 days ago and fractured my fifth toe. I buddy tape it at once after the fall coz I can see deformity right away. I went to my doctor the next day and had X-ray done which confirmed the fracture but no displacement. I'm wearing an aircast for two weeks now. I just started walking yesterday in the house without it. It seems like I can tolerate without it but I felt pain last night from my foot but tolerable. Should I continue wearing it until I see my ortho next week?

Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. Having a fracture on the toe due toe due to a fall can be painful. If you are getting adequate treatment then it is enough for you to be doing well with the right kind of medications. I also think that you should consult the doctor or the health care provider that gave you the cast about the pain and weather you should continue wearing it until you see your ortho next week. Phone calls are typically responded to by a doctor's office.

I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
