Getting Itchy Black Spots In Every Summer Or Winter. What Are These Spots?

I am a 22yr old African american female, who has been getting itchy black spots almost every spring/summer since I was 19. If I scratch them they spread. I went to my doctor numerous times and they couldn't tell me what they were but prescribed a cream that seems to work. Do you have any idea what these spots could possibly be?

Hi there ~

I understand your concern. I think that you are having melanotic patches from excessively being in the sun and avoiding them makes things better for you. It may also be that your skin is very sensitive to sunlight and starts to have these black spots which could become worse if you continue the sun exposure. This may be a condition called Actinic Keratosis and your doctor can probably explain this better. I hope this helps. I am glad that the medication is working however.

Take care and have a lovely day!
