Graft In Arm For Dialysis. Arm Swollen, Oozing Yellow Liquid. Had Stem Cell Transplant Recently. What Type Of Infection Is It?

my father recently had a graft put in his arm for dialysis. His arm got extremely swollen and long story short they took it down. It is still in the arm but tied. His arm has stiil been hurting and oozing yellow fluid out of his skin. A surgeon just came in and thinks it is infected and waiting on Vascular to look at it. my question is what type of infection might it be. Waiting on culture results. He recently had a stem cell transplant so I am extremely worried.

Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
By the symptoms you have mentioned it seems to be a bacterial infection, most probably staphylococcal infection.
As your dad has recently undergone an operative procedure, his immunity will be low and he will be prone to opportunistic infections.
Please wait for the culture results and let his doctor deal with it appropriately.
I understand your concern and wish him a speedy recovery.
Thanks
