Green Oily Discharge In Bowel Movement. Have Acid Reflux Disease. Changed Diet Regime. Possible Cause?
Last night and this morning, I have noticed that I have a green oily discharge with my bowel movements. The stool itself is not floating and is a greenish brown color. I recently started a new diet which requires me to eat mostly fruits, vegetables and nuts . I do have acid reflux disease and just recently had an endoscopy and my doctor told me everything was fine. What could be causing this? Should I call my doctor immediately?
Hello Thanks for using health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your query Iin detail. Green colour to the stool is imparted by the bile which is secreted by yhe liver. Probably there is excess bile production and release from the gall bladder. Now it can occur due to plenty of reasons. Its not an emergency but you need to get an endoscopy done to identify the cause. Meanwhile you may reduce the fiber in the diet. One other possibility is that it could be an infection and would require skme antibiotic. Hope I am able to help you. Thanks and regards Dr. Srikanth Reddy
