I HAVE A FRIEND WHO JUST HAD A MISSCARIAGE THEY SENT HER HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL THE SAME DAY AND I WAS JUST WONDERING WAS THAT A BIT TO SOON TO HAVE LET HER COME HOME?
it all depends on how far along she was in the pregnancy. I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks and spent less then 4 hours in the hospital. once you start to miscarry there is nothing the doctors can do to prevent this from happening. I was told i miscarried for one of 2 reasons the first being my period was abnormally late and the other was that the fetus was not developing correctly and my body discharged it. I will let you know that 4 months later i got pregnant again and now carrying a healthy baby boy due in 5 weeks

General & Family Physician, Dr. P. Mahesh's Response
Hospital stay is required if the bleeding is excessive or there is pain or the bleeding is persistent and there is suspicion of retained products of conception.
It is better to minimize the hospital stay to the bare minimum to avoid acquiring hospital infection.
Hello
Thanks for nice query.
It is a good practice to send the patient home same ,day care MTP/Abortion is well established entity in medical science.Admission is unnecessary without any major bleeding .Cost & complication both decrease.
