Had A Premolar Tooth Pulled. Having Intense Pain, Bad Smell From The Site. On Narco, Ibuprofen. Treatment?
I had a premolar tooth pulled on Friday- it is now Monday and I'm still experiencing severe pain in my gums and I have horrible smell coming from extraction site. I won't be able to talk to my dentist until tomorrow. I have been taking narco along with ibuprofen to ease the pain- but it doesn't completely relieve it. What can I do in the short term to make this better?
According to your clinical symptoms i suppose that you have developed a dry socket at the extraction site to confirm this you need to visit the Dentist and get the checkup done. As you cannot see the Dentist right now i suggest you to continue with the medications prescribed to you and take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses to give soothing effect. When you visit the Dentist A guaze dressing of ZnoE can be placed for healing of the site.
Hi The symptoms You are telling are due to Dry Socket. as you wont be able to go to dentist, till that time you continue with your medication. along with the medication just make sure to keep the extraction area clean. use warm saline rinses regularly (1/2 tsp in 10 oz of warm water).
hi... as answered by other doctors... it seems to be dry socket... visit your dentist again, he will irrigate and clean the area and will place medicated gauze in the affected area... take care...
Hi, For short term relief, home-remedies can be followed along with medication i.e. rinsing with tea water or placing a cotton soaked in clove oil at the site. As per your query, you have a dry soket which is responsible for your severe pain and bad breath. So visit your dentist for the irrigation of your extraction socket with betadine and normal saline, zinc oxide-eugenol dressing pack. Take Amoxicillin, metronidazole and ibuprofen for 2 days. Warm saline rinses and antiseptic mouthwash will be beneficial to you. Take care
