Had A Vaginal Hysterectomy With Fallopian Tubes Out. Still Having Pain Vaginally, Brown Discharge. Recommendations?
Hi my name is Tracy. I'm 39 years old had a vaginal hysterectomy with fallopian tubes out. Also bladder mesh and posterior and anterior repair. Its week 3 and I'm still having pain vaginally of course and still having discomfort with voiding. Also have a not so pleasant odor with brownish discharge. I'm also concerned that the sutures are still visible and it looks and feels like theres xtra tissue in the vaginal opening, like something is in the way. I haven't investigated to much because I don't want to do anything to the area. Anyway just want to see if this is normal at week 3. Thanks
The period of recovery after vaginal hysterectomy may vary from one week to four weeks. It depends on pain tolerability, indication for surgery, associated repairs etc. While healing granulation tissue will form and discharge can come from it for few days. Possibly all these symptoms will subside soon. Don't disturb the operation site. If the symptoms persist consult your doctor once and get examined.
