Had An Automobile Accident, Knee Injury. Have Osteoarthritis. Done Arthroscopy. Can They Be Related?

The insurance company says there is no link to my osteoarthritus, from a car accident 3 yrs ago. In the accident (in England a70mph collision took place) my knee was one of the main injuries at the time. I've now had an arthroscopy and a trimming and tidy-up of level 2 arthritus, I had had no joint problems prior to this, there is no family history and I have an identical twin brother who is arthritus free, I think its obvious, but everyone else seems less sure?
