Had An Injury In Coccyx Area. Severe Back Pain. What Could This Be?
Hi, I was doing a seated back row about 3 months ago and i felt a slip in my coccyx area. It wasn t an extreme pain when it happened but i definitely felt something was wrong. I ve had worse lower back pain since then, I had general back pain before. The pain has remained constant for 3 months, It s at its worst when I stand for long periods or if I stretch my body in a position such as tying my shoes. What could this be?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Mukesh Chugh's Response
Hi Thanks for writing your query Based on your description this injury is called coccygodynia. My advice for you would be- 1. Sitz’s bath- sit in the tub filled with lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes two times daily. 2. Avoid sitting on hard surface and try to sit on one buttock. Avoid jerky rides and take rest. 3. Medication wise you may take Ibuprofen for few days.Injection depomedrol at the coccyx also helps.Just discuss with your local doctor. You may take rest for few days. If the problem persists see your local doctor. Take care and wish you good health. Regards Dr.chugh Orthopaedic surgeon http://bit.ly/drmchugh
