Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my daughter 13 yrs has grown 5 ins in past year, is very athletic and troubled by tailbone pain for 2 months. Recently started periods, no injury to coccyx, previously growth related problem with tendon in knee. Painkillers and cushions used, but any other ideas?
It is necessary performing an X-ray study of the coccygeal bone in order to examine better this region. Inflammation tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR) should be done. A physical exam may be needed in order to exclude a possible abscess in this region.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
