Had Colposcopy. Monsels Paste Coming Out, Pain And Swelling. Took Antihistamine. What Is Happening?
Hello,
I had a colposcopy the other day. As of today, the monsels paste is coming out and I have had some kind of bad reaction. It was intense onset of pain burning and swelling. I have had this procedure before with no side effects. What is happening? I took an antihistamine and a warm bath but it feels like heat coming from the vaginal canal.
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.
It is possible that you became sensitized to the chemicals used during the first procedure, and then had a more significant reaction to this second procedure. Typically with a colposcopy alone (which often involves small biopsies) Monsel's is not necessary or only needed in very small amounts. This makes me think that something else is going on - you need to contact your OB/GYN as soon as possible and get in to be seen.
I hope that this helps!
