Had Dog Bite. Took Antibiotics, Tetanus Shot. Having Numbness In The Leg. See The Doctor?
I was bitten by a dog on Tuesday ( Christmas Day) in my right but cheek. I went to ER and they placed me on antibiotics and tetanus shot. The dogs records and shots are up to date. I have a puncture. This morning I had pain on the right side of my body. In my side and lower leg. I drove in to work and once I went to get out of the car my leg felt numb. I went to my office to sit down and when I got up it was numb again. Shall I return to the ER? Is this normal or not?
The reason for the numbness could simply be because you are immobile in car and office. If the numbness goes away after moving a bit then there is no need to worry. However, if the numbness is persistent or you develop altered sensations you should go to er.
Hi, Buttock contains some important nerves like sciatic nerve which carries sensations from lower limbs. Wound must be sufficiently deep to cause injury to this nerve. In such cases you may feel similar complaints. It usually heals with time. If the problem remains for more than a week or becomes intolerable, you may contact neurologist near to you. Regarding anti-rabies vaccines, you can undergo complete course of vaccines even though dog records are up to date.
