Had Dog Scratch On The Chest. Worried About Infection

Sir, a pet dog well vaccinated was trying to play with me. In he process, there was a scar of his foreleg nails on my chest which was made from above my banyan and there was a red scar on my skin. I washed with dettol and shop. After 3 to 5 hours, the scar disappeared with normal skin. I however, get fear of being contaminated. Please advise. The incident took place on 9th May.

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

I advise you to start anti rabies vaccination after the advise of your physician as early as possible.

If the dog is healthy even 10 days after the bite you can discontinue the remaining shots of anti rabies vaccines.

I advise you to consult your physician as early as possible for the vaccination advise.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
