Had Fasiotiomy. Fiance Attacked By Men, Injured, Was Punched. Feels Confused And Dizzy. Should I Take Him To ER?

My fiancé was just jumped by 4 men walking home from the store. I cannot get the exact details from him because his speech is slurred and he seems confused, also has trouble keeping his eyes open and staying awake. His pupils are tiny, and nothing else seems to be injured. But he just had a fasiotiomy about three weeks ago on his left calf area. He is in major pain there, and has the beginning of a black eye. He does not want to call the police because only his favorite hat, his phone, and $5 (all he had on him). But I think we should.. Anyway, he is starting to doze off despite my best efforts to keep him awake, and he seems to be getting more confused. He is slurring his words very badly and saying things that do not make sense. I worry about a concussion, even though he says he didn't fall, or hit his head on the sidewalk.. He was punched in the face (eye area) twice. Should I get him to an emergency room?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi Friend I am Dr Bilal and I am an Ophthalmologist
Welcome to Health Care Magic and thanks for writing to us .
I would like to answer your question and your satisfaction is my goal .

First of all i feel sorry for whatever happened with your fiance . From the history given by you , slurring of speech and tiny pupils may be due to some sort of poisoning as he was jumped by 4 men . His mental status is altered . i would suggest that your fiance should be taken immediately to emergency room as he needs clinical evaluation by an eye doctor as well as by a neuro physician . He may be asked to get his CT scan / MRI . He also needs pain killers . Please do not take it light and rush to emergency room .
I hope that you will find my answer helpful .
Wish your fiance a very speedy recovery .
Good luck .
Best regards .
