Had Gastroscopy For Gerd Problems. Took Papaya Enzymes. Burn In My Mouth, Stomach. Dgl Advisable?

Hi.I had a gastroscopy this year for gerd problems and the doctor said that is nothing there. Anyway he put me on nexium 3 months but i never take it because i read that ppi is not the cure for gerd.I tried natural remedies like papaya enzymes .I feel almost all the time a burn in my mouth,before gastroscopy my burn was on my stomach,and now
ocasional i feel burn on my stomach.I want to know if i can take dgl tablets,because i have extrasystoles sometimes caused by my anxiety.My big question is: dgl can cause heart problems?Thank you.

Hi,

DGL TABLETS contains the Dried roots, whole extracts and "deglycyrrhizinated" extracts.

It normally contraindicated for the person with high blood pressure, any kidney or liver disease, diabetes or heart disease. Since you have an anxiety issues and do have an extra systole its "NOT RECOMMENDED FOR YOUR USE"

Here is the mechanism how it works and why its bad for people with heart and kidney issues. It cause sodium and water retention and increase blood pressure, will need more medication in turn, it may increase the anxiety as it works on hormonal level also. Increase in sodium and water may increase your blood pressure and it may lead to increase in rate of extra systole.
