Had Inguinal Hernia Repair. Now Having Pain In The Area, Paining When Masturbating, Head Of The Penis. Recommendations?

hi! I just had an inguinal hernia repair like some years ago. I think it was in 2010 or 2011. The thing is hat I'm feeling a bit of pain in the area, but Can't say that is swollen like it was before the repair. I also notice that when masturbating, if feel pain too. Sometimes I feel pain even in the head of the penis. WHat is going on?

Hi and thanks for the query,
It might be necessary to notice that after an inguinal hernia, one might notice some post surgical pain (residual pain after some straining). Secondly, the penis and the inguinal area have the same nerve branches that innervate them, thus possibility to experience symptoms simultaneously. This could explain the pain you experience during masturbation in these areas.
It is good already that there is no swelling, no intense pain, nor I suppose erectile dysfunction.
However, I would suggest a decrease in the frequency of masturbation, use of appropriate lubricants and monitoring of symptoms. In case of swelling or pain/erectile dysfunction, do not hesitate consulting your physician or surgeon.
