Had Mole Removed From Penis. Do I Need To See A Urologist?
Approx. one month ago I had a mole removed from my penis . It came back benign with a few atypical cells. Now my dermatologist has sent me to a urologist for further removal around the borders with a stitch or two this time. I am fully healed and not sure if I don t need to do this or get another opinion. Thanks, John YYYY@YYYY
Hello and welcome to HCM
You had a mole which was reported as bengn but with few atypical cells.
Now this is a birder line condition where the mole is benign at the time of removal but progression tto malignancy has started.
In order to avoid recurrence, this revision surgery is required especially around the margins as these atypical cells may have invaded the surrounding margins.
So. removal of margins is a safety step to avoid recurrence.
Thanks and take care
