Had Sprained Ankle. Was Black On The Bottom. It Healed. Have A Lump Inside The Ankle. Hurts When Putting Braces. Xray Normal. Is The Report Normal?
I sprained my ankle s few years ago. It was pretty severe, it was so bad my for was black on the bottom and on the right side of my shin. Well it healed, I thought just fine, but I have a pretty good size lump on the inside of my ankle. There's no pain associated with it until I put on an ankle brace. I'd just like to know why it's lumped up. I did have it x-rayed when it happened and they said there wasn't a fracture.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query.
Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the lump. Possibilities that may need to be considered include enlarged bursa, lipomas, cysts, growths from underlying connective tissue etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. You may get the MRI of the area affected and FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) of lump under his/her guidance.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
