Had Tetanus Shot, Has Swollen Arms And Knot Where Shot Was Given. Suggest?

My Aunt, who is 89 yrs old had a tetanus shot one week ago. Apparently, she has had swelling in her left arm and a knot where the shot was given sub Q. It is too late to call the doctor, and I am worried if this will get worse though the night. I am in North Carolina, and she lives in Vero Beach, Florida. Can this wait until tomorrow morning??? She did not get a reaction until today at about 5 pm.

Hi,
You do not have to worry much about the knot where the shot was given, as sometimes it takes time to resolve. I understand the apprehension as your aunt is 89 years old. The swelling in the arm has to be examined in detail as the swelling has appeared only recently and not immediately after taking the shot. You can get in touch with your GP if the swelling is very painful and itchy.
I think this can wait till morning if your aunt is not in pain.
