Had To Do Emdometrial Biopsy. It Was Painful. Advised Mistoprostol For Dilation Of Cervix. Am Post Menopausal. Suggestions?
My doctor is suppose to do an emdometrial biopsy on the 23th of August. She said that they didn't give anything for pain other than taking something otc. She started to do one on me the other day and it was way to painful. She stopped and wrote me a prescription for mistoprostol to help with dilation of the cervix. However, i have read that for post-menopausal women such as myself that this does not work as well. I really don't know if I can tolerate the pain. Is there anyway I can approach her and demand something for pain other than the otc meds without sounding like a pain pill seeker?
Misoprostol will help in dilatation of cervix to some extent and then sounding will be easy.If you are too anxious, you can ask your doctor to do the procedure under local anaesthesia(cervical block) or short form of general anaesthesia. This is very common these days and does not have any major side effect. After the procedure, she can give you injectable pain killer for better pain relief and you can be discharged after 2-3 hrs of the procedure.
