Had Unprotected Sex, Taken Nordette. Irregular Periods. No Nausea Or Vomiting. Effectivity?
Hello. I have had unprotected sex last Sept 16. About 11 hours later I took Nordette as ECP (4 pills at the same time), then took the second dose 12 hours later. My last period ended on Sept 9. My period has gone irregular recently, but safest estimate is shortest cycle 32 days and longest cycle about 45 days. I have not felt any nausea or vomiting or any side-effects related to taking ECP. What is the effectivity of this? Thanks.
Hello Thanks for your query. Nordette is not the recommended ECP, so its success is not studied. Regular ECP are more than 90 % effective when taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex. As your cycles are irregular, ECP further aggravates this irregularity. It is not necessary to have some side effects with ECP. It is best to take a pregnancy test 4 weeks after unprotected sex to be sure. All the best.
