Hairline Fracture On Cheek, Nerve Damage On Face, Sprained Left Wrist, Badly Bruised. How Long To Recover ?

Hi, I am a 23 year old female and would class myself as fit and healthy! I had a bicycle accident on the 23rd May and am still not fully recovered. I went over my handle bars and landed on my face and wrist with my thighs landing square on the handle bars. I had a hairline fracture on my cheek and some nerve damage on my face, sprained my left wrist and was badly bruised. I did get checked out and they said the recovery will take a while. As it is two months on I have two queries really…
1.     My left wrist is still very sore to do certain actions I really cannot put any weight on it and struggle to supinate whilst holding anything, in fact any turning whilst I am gripping something is painful. I was told it would take 6-8 weeks for full recovery but it really hasn’t improved since about the 3rd week and can be quite limiting.
2.     Where I landed on my handle bars my left leg has quite a big dip in it still. I am very active and it was too painful to run for over a month but now I am running again it can still be quite sore and the dip is actually more noticeable. Before and after running I am stretching well and have been using a physio roller and scarring cream to massage it.
Is this all completely normal or do I need to go and visit my GP? Or is there anything else I can do?
Thanks, AAAAA

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Generally, minor soft tissue injuries will heal spontaneously within 3 weeks. But as you are still having pain and limitation of movement in the wrist, I suspect some serious ligament injury in your wrist. Get an MRI scan done for your wrist which will show all the soft tissue lesion. Further management depends on the extent of soft tissue injury.

Regarding your left leg problem ,the dip you see and the soreness could be due to a possible muscle tear. An ultrasound examination will diagnose these problems.

So, I suggest you to consult your treating physician and get evaluated.

Hope this information is helpful . Good day
