Has Bi-polar, High Sex Drive, Diabetic, Low Thyroid, On Small Dose Of Insulin. Does Depakote Lower Libido ?

Hi my daughter has Bi-polar and high sex drive. She is diabetic, has problems with low thyroid , is currentlly on a small dose of insulin .She has a very large stomach we think due to Depakote. Q. what can she take for depression that will lower the libido. She also was diagnosed with metabolic syndrome which is what? y

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
Your daughter has multiple medical problems, Bipolar disorder which can at one end have severe depression and other end may have mania,Diabetes and hypothyroid which can be treated by appropriate medicines, metabolic syndrome is part of diabetes where Obesity and insulin resistance.
Treatment with Depakote for bipolar disorder, please discuss this issue with your Psychiatrist and if there is any requirement she may be treated accordingly.
Please take care of her diet and medications gaining weight will not help.
Please check T3,T4 and TSH periodically and keep blood sugar level under control.
Please do not give any medicine by yourself and follow treatment of your treating Psychiatrist.
