Have Cellulitis On Penis Head. Had Unprotected Sex. Should I Take Antibiotic?

If I have cellulitis on head of penis ( I think this is what I have....flaky skin, white, flakes off with water, went away for a month...goes away with water, but was slightly swollen... I was worried because I am used to having protected sex and since my girlfriend is pregnant, we have had tons of sex w/o condoms which I've used my whole sex life....anyways, I pick the flaky skin, but the swelling went down, it was painful one of the days, but then went away for a month. it just came back) I am wondering if I should take an antibiotic or if there is a crème, or what course of action I should take to ease this , and not to have it worsen. the swollen area is slight and red and shiny.

Hi Dear
Welcome to the platform of Health care Magic,
Because of milder trauma during sexual intercourse in the penis has worsened . and it has become infected also.
In my opinion it requires a course of antibiotic orally and locally both with some anti inflammatory drugs.
In the mean time you should also be investigated to rule out some STDs like Syphilis etc and treated accordingly.
I would also like to advice you to refrain from sexual activity for a month or so to prevent further trauma.
Hope your query is answered
Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for posting,

It is obvious that you are having infection of the penis skin and as you mentioned, it might be cellulitis. The most common germs that cause cellulitis are staph, strep, pseudomonas etc and you will definitely require antibiotics in order to treat this if that be the case. An antibiotics such as cloxacillin will be of use. Topical antibiotics might be useful but I do not think it will be necessary. You might require only oral medication of antibiotics and pain killers in order to treat this. It is also best if you could see your primary care doctor to have a look.

Hope this helps
