Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been diagnosed with MDD (296.34). How serious is it? Is it normal to have periods of time feeling fine? For example, this week i feel fine, but had difficulty sleeping. Is it common to feel like you re never going to fully recover and its something you learn to live with? Would it prove true to my diagnosis that I believe i m never going to get better?
Having MDD is a common complaint among the general public. After anxiety disorders, mood disorders are the most common psychiatric complaints. It is not unusual to feel fine for a week and then hit the bottom for another week. If you have symptomatic problems for example, with sleeping you could use the help of some sedatives under a psychiatrist's supervision. I believe that you are going to get better, and you should only give it time. Patience is a virtue. I hope you are seeking the help of a counselor who is your mentor and guide in daily life situations.
I hope this helps. Take care.
