Have A Blister With Redness, Discomfort & Mild Swelling Behind The Knee. Using Anti Fungal Cream. What Could This Be?
I have a blister with redness, discomfort & mild swelling behind my knee. It began 3 days ago starting overnight with a red blister, normal skin color encompassing it ,with a red ring around it. I have been using anti fungal creme occasionally. It seemed to be improving but woke up with another blister, pain& increased swelling. Only thing I did differently was swim in the ocean. Wondering if this began as insect bite (tick) or a sole yeast infection (which I think I've had once before).
The description you have given is less likely to be of fungal origin. Blisters are a common manifestation of viral infections and or bacterial skin infections. In case of viral infections, the blister are either single or multiple usually in clusters and could be painful. In bacterial blisters, the blister typically are pus filled and appear warmth to touch.
Generally, good skin care is effective to clear benign skin conditions including viral and bacterial infections. Moreover, viral infections generally need just symptomatic relieve and they disappear on their own.
You should clean the blister areas regularly with clean water and antiseptic. if the blisters burst open, you continue the cleaning and consider using antibiotic oilment on the wounds. I usually prescribed neomycin cream as a topical antibiotic.
Hope this helps you. Best regards Dr Achuo
