Have Back Pain After Childbirth. Medication Or Exercise?

Hi, I had delivered around 2 yrs back and baby weight is 3.5 Ihave back pain now and the whole body is aching. I couldnt stand for a long time. My back aches like anything At the EOD after work, I couldnt do anything at home. Feel so tired. When i consulted a Gynae , she said i have weak ab muscles which is common after pregnancy and said nothing can be done except surgery. Is there any medication or exercise that can reduce it and flatten my tummy as well?????

Hi, thanks for your question.

I will recommend seeing physiotherapist 1st to work on the abdominal and back muscles and I am pretty sure you will notice significant improvement.

medication can help as well but you need nothing more than analgesia

best wishes

Hi,
THE INCREASE IN PREGNANCY HORMONES, SOFTENING OF THE LIGAMENTS OF LUMBER REGEION, INCREASED BODY WEIGHT COLLECTVELY LEAD TO CHANGE IN BODY POSTURE & BACK PAIN IN PREGNANCY.
The delivary stress to joints, ligaments & muscles of lumber region add to the pain.
The failure to substitute for calcium utilization along with lack of high protein & vitamin as well as iron rich diet while breast feeding adds still more & post delivary back ache is unbearable!
In such a condition few investigations like Hemoglobin %, serum calcium ray of lumber region.
* An advice of a health provider, for full evaluation of physical condition & investigation reports .He will prescribe anti inflammatory drugs/muscle relaxants as per need.
* Surgical treatment is needed in cases if spinal disc prolapse or spinal stenosis.
* High protein, vitamins, iron & calcium rich diet (milk, pulses, eggs, fruits, vegetables, salads) is beneficial.
* Fomentation & muscle relaxant ointments are good for relief.
* Massage therapy or neuroreflexotherapy do help in some cases.
* After the pan is controlled with medicines, exercises for postural corrections well as strengthening back & abdominal muscles done under experts care are definitely helpful
* After 2 years, if you are still breast feeding, it’s better to go for weaning.
I feel that satisfies you.
Thank you.
