Have Bilateral PCOS, Irregular Bleeding. On Regestrone. What Is Going On?
Hi, I am Roshni and had skipped one month period in last aug 2012 and after consulting a doctor i was given regesterone tablets for 10 days. I bled after the 10th day. Later wen i went for consulting doctor turned out that i was having Bilateral PCOs. He said there is no need to worry since i was having regular cycles till then. Now again this september i have skipped my cycles and have not had it till now. M married but we use protection and m not having any pregnancy signs. Could u please guide me.?
Hello Roshni Thanks for your query. As you are not pregnant ( confirmed by the test ) , then the most likely explanation is that the missed periods are due to PCOS only. PCOS is a hormonal imbalance disordere, wherein the ovaries are studded with multiple small follicles ( cysts ) and none of them go on to form a mature follicle or egg which ovulates each month, so delayed menstruation and erratic ovulation are observed. Please consult a gynecologist, and have total hormonal evaluation ( FSH, LH, prolactin, DHEAS, serum free testosterone, oral glucose tolerance test , prolactin ) Metformin might be required for symptom control. Weight loss will also help for this. Take care.
