Have Cervical Stenosis, Arthritis, Disk Herniation And Bone Spurs. Done MRI. What Can Help?

Hi Doctor,
I have cervical stenosis and I fell one winter on ice and the concrete ledge hit my lower back.I did my MRI of the neck and lower back. The Neurosurgeon told me that I have arthirities bone spur and disk herniation. He said any surgery will casue me only temporaary relief and in the long term it will come. The risk is very high with stroke.

My lower back he said he sees nothing and that was it. I can't stand for too long or do bend won at one time I was frozen and had to be taken by ambulance and all they did was give me Morhphine and told me to go after twelve hours. Now the doctor recommends physio and pain management clinic. My lower back is not due to anything but only due to fall It is not the column but the side of the column. Is there any thing I can do.?

Hi and thanks for the query,
Treatment or symptom relief depends very much on the intensity of the symptoms. It might be difficult to completely treat the disease, but appropriate disease could be gotten for a high and good quality of life.
Treatment ranges form Anti inflammatory drugs, steroids, gold salts and at times anti cancer drugs and Hydroxychloroquine.
Weight loss and physiotherapy could improve or reduce the pain to a very large extent. I strongly suggest you consult a rhematologist and an orthopedist for proper clinical review. For now, your drugs and physiotherapy could help. In case you are overweight, it is advisable to lose weight. Thanks and kind regards
