Have Different Symptoms Stemming From Six Glaucoma Prevention Procedures In Both Eyes. Have Burning Sensations, Red. Treatment?

I am trying to pin down what my problem is with my eyes. I have been back and forth for the past 4 weeks with different symptoms stemming from six glaucoma prevention procedures in both eyes. The procedures began last August, but for some reason the holes keep self healing. My current problem burning sensation after using Patanol which I started two days ago after three days of red eyes, sniffles, soreness to the eyes and a filmy vision problem. I am using Combigan 2 times per day and dry eye drops. I am sick of going back and forth to my eye doctors! Each time they change the regiment of drops, I experience light sensitivity which is also very painful.

Hi,

First of all, if you are wondering regarding burning sensation and redness they are common symptoms of dryness secondary to environmental changes, seasonal changes or hormonal changes. The burning and redness together happen when the natural tears produced by the body are being evaporated faster then being made because of which the front surface of the eye becomes exposed to the environment causing pain. Lack of oxygen can cause dilation of blood vessels which shows up as redness.

To help decrease the redness and burning, take a warm wash cloth (warm enough to bare the heat) and gently massage you eyeball to help open the pores which will help release natural oil and keep the tears from evaporating. Also, use of Artificial tears can also help about 4-5x day both eyes.

You are taking patanol 2x day both eyes - for allergies. This medication should be spaced 12 hours apart. If it causes burning, which happens very commonly, you should place the med in the fridge which should help.
