Have Had Thrush. On Curam Duo Antibiotics, Savlon Cream. Why Does It Recur?
Hi there, I live in New Zealand. I am currently on a month long course of curam duo antibiotics. I have had thrush once half way through this medication and I cannot stop taking it. I saw my family doctor who gave me a three day cream and it really helped. But because I am on the antibiotics for a long time the thrush has come back again. It's not as bad this time around and I can manage without seeing the doctor until I finish my medication.
Just wondering if there is anything that can help relieve the itching, I have put some savlon cream on this evening after my shower and that seems to be helping. Would you recommend something like bepanthen cream??
Do you have other suggestions??
Thanks
Laura

Hi,
No, bepanthen cream wont help. Thrush re occur in immuno defeciency or in partially treated condition or due to broad spectrum antibiotic used for long duration. After discussing with your doctor, you can apply antifungal drug like clotrimazole and can take antihistamine drug like alaspan. This will help you in relieving symptoms from thrush.
Hope this helps you.
Regards
