Have Headache, Stomach Upset And Dizziness. Taking Indomethacin Medication. What Should Be The Dosage Of This Medicine?

Hello,
I started taking indomethacin ER 75 mg. yesterday. I believe it is too strong for me. My doctor said to take it once every 12 hours. I can't, because with just one pill yesterday, I'm not feeling well. I took one more pill today and still have these awful side effects. I have a bad headache, blurriness, upset stomach (already have gerd), dizziness, afraid to drive my car. Should I call my doctor and have him give me a lower dosage? Thank you, Margie

Hi ! It is better to get your blood pressure and blood sugar checked as a routine. If you have got GERD, you should also inform about this to your treating doctor, and also you should take your medications only after some food, and never in empty stomach. If you feel that your problem are related to Indomethacin, then you should get yourself reviewed by your doctor at the earliest, who may change the drug/dosage suitable for your ailment. Wishing you an early recovery.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Venkat Sivayogi 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,

The dosage you are taking is not very high as you think. As you are already having GERD, these pain killers precipitate the gastric problems. This may be the possible reason for this. Beeter add antacid pill along with the pain killer . if symptoms are too severe, you better get evaluated with your treating doctor .
