re: extremely Low B12 pathology
Hello Doctor, I am an Australian 52 years young female, 160cm, 48kg. Only recent Pathology has urgently indicated I have low B12 reading 96 and for past month my doctor has put me on one Megafol 5/day for a month, plus fortnightly B12 shots. I have been tested for parietal cell abs and intrinsic factor abs both readings came back Negative. In a fortnight I am to have both gastroscopy along with colonoscopy this time done by a Specialist Gastroenterologist to perform thorough investigations. 4yrs ago I had my first of both these procedures done by a surgeon that time, who confirmed my symptoms were IBS and oesophagitis; as was with me, treatment with Ranitidene I believe can trigger low B12. Can low B12 be reversed permanently in anyway at all? Since this recently coming to my attention, I have googled B12 deficiency and it mentions pernicious anaemia (my Dr mentioned this possiblilty has yet to be eliminated) as an autoimmune disease which has not yet been diagnosed however likelihood has me concerned about it's longterm implications for me. Would you mind please suggesting any medical reading material on low B12 diagnosis that would be far more accurate than perhaps what I've read on Google so far. Thank you. Regards, Dee
